How we rank: month match (×3 weight), vibe match, budget fit, climate fit. Top 8 destinations shown. Data from our 49-destination profile database, updated quarterly. Flag issues at corrections@destination.com.

How the recommender works

The recommender ranks destinations across four dimensions, each contributing to the final score: month match (weighted 3×, the most important signal), vibe match, budget match, climate match. The inputs are intentionally limited — if we gave you 20 filters, the ranking would be brittle; four filters let the tool produce stable, sensible rankings across a 49-destination catalogue.

A few patterns worth knowing: "any" filters score a small baseline rather than zero (so you can use one or two specific filters without over-constraining the result). The month match is against a destination's general best-travel window from our destination-profiles database, which often runs several months — a destination is "in season" throughout that window, not just at its peak.

For a deeper answer to "where is cheap right now", see our Shoulder Season Score. For "where is my dollar worth most", our Luxury-per-Dollar Index. For "where is it quiet right now", our Quiet Index.
