How we earn money.
Plain-English notes on our affiliate partnerships, and how they do (and do not) shape what we recommend.
destination.com participates in affiliate programs, which means we may earn a commission when you book travel or apply for a credit card through some of the links on our site. This page explains exactly how that works.
The short version
destination.com earns a commission when readers book a hotel or flight, or apply for a credit card, through some of the links on our site. These are called affiliate links. The commission comes from the merchant or card issuer — it never changes the price you pay or the terms of the offer. Our editorial picks are chosen independently of any compensation.
Travel partners
We participate in the Expedia Group Travel Creator Program via Partnerize, and in the Travelpayouts network which aggregates flight fares across Trip.com, Kiwi, Expedia, Booking.com, and Priceline. When you click a hotel, flight, package, or activity link on destination.com, we may earn a commission if you complete a booking.
Credit-card partners
We work with credit-card affiliate networks including CardRatings, FlexOffers, CJ Affiliate, and Impact. When these partnerships are active and you apply for a card through one of our links, we may receive a commission if you are approved. Card offers, rates, fees, and terms are set by the issuer and can change at any time — always review the current terms on the issuer's website before applying.
How this affects what you see
We only write about products we would recommend to a friend. A card or hotel is not featured because it pays more — it is featured because our editorial team believes it earns its spot. When multiple products are comparable, we may prioritise the one we have an affiliate relationship with, and we label any link that earns a commission with rel="sponsored" in the link's HTML so search engines and tracking tools can identify it.
What we do not do
We do not accept payment for positive reviews. We do not alter factual information (rates, fees, bonuses) to make a product look better than it is. We do not hide the existence of better products that we cannot earn commission on — if we know of one and recommend it editorially, we will say so.
