What's open on Sundays in Zurich?

Sundays in Zurich are quieter than most visitors expect, but far from dead. The main exception to the general closure is Zurich Hauptbahnhof (HB): the shops inside the main train station operate seven days a week, including grocery stores like Migros and Co-op, pharmacies, and a range of restaurants. The Shopville mall beneath the station follows similar hours. Along the lake and the Limmat, cafés and restaurants in Niederdorf and along Bürkliplatz are open throughout the day, and the Sunday flea market at Bürkliplatz runs from May through October (roughly 6am–3pm). Museums including the Kunsthaus, the Swiss National Museum, and the Museum Rietberg are open on Sundays, typically from 10am. The Landesmuseum closes Mondays, not Sundays. Grocery shopping outside the HB is essentially impossible on Sundays, so stock up Saturday evening if you're staying in a residential neighborhood like Wiedikon or Hürlimann-Areal.
