Kenya Airways Upgrades Accor Match to Platinum Tier for $299

Kenya Airways has enhanced its paid status-match program to award top-tier Asante Platinum recognition to members holding Accor Gold, Platinum, or Diamond status, according to a report. The 12-month match carries a $299 fee and delivers SkyTeam Elite Plus privileges without requiring any Kenya Airways flight activity.

The carrier's existing status-match initiative, which launched last year and accepts credentials from competing airlines and hotel programs, previously capped Accor members at mid-tier Asante Gold regardless of their hotel standing. Under the revised framework, even entry-level Accor Gold qualifies for the airline's premium tier, which includes a 100-percent mileage bonus on Kenya Airways flights, complimentary advance seat assignment, lounge access with a companion, priority services, and an extra checked bag.

The change creates particular value for customers who participated in Bilt Rewards' August promotion offering fast-track Accor status. That limited-time offer granted 12 months of Accor Gold to Bilt Gold cardholders who transferred 5,000 loyalty points, while Bilt Platinum members received Accor Platinum valid through December 2027 in exchange for 15,000 points. Both groups now have access to the Kenya Airways Platinum match, effectively converting a modest points transfer into alliance-wide elite recognition.

SkyTeam Elite Plus standing—attached to both Asante Gold and Platinum—provides priority processing at check-in and security, preferred seating, an additional baggage allowance of one piece or 20 kilograms, and business-class lounge entry with a guest on qualifying international itineraries across the 19-member alliance. The status applies when flying Delta Air Lines, Air France, KLM, Virgin Atlantic, Korean Air, and other participating carriers.

Kenya Airways restricts each member to a single lifetime match and does not permit upgrades if a customer later obtains superior qualifying credentials. Individuals who previously purchased Asante Gold cannot re-apply using Accor status to reach Platinum, the carrier confirmed.
