Hyatt Hotels Corporation said Wednesday that its footprint in Canada has quadrupled since 2017, with the company now tracking toward its biggest year of hotel openings in the country. Hyatt said it has more than 40 deals in its development pipeline, including 10 hotels expected to open in 2027.

The Chicago-based hotel company framed the Canadian expansion as proof of its multi-brand strategy working across different city sizes and traveler types. "Our growth reflects the strength of our relationships with owners and developers, the breadth of our brands and the flexibility of our development models," said Julienne Smith, Hyatt's head of Americas growth. Scott Richer, Hyatt's head of growth for Canada, said the company's approach centers on working closely with hotel owners as it builds out its presence. "At Hyatt, business is personal," Richer said. "It's about understanding our owners' goals, earning their trust and creating lasting value for them and our guests."

Four new properties show brand spread across Canada

Hyatt pointed to a string of recent openings as evidence its brands are landing in a mix of markets, from wine country to mid-size cities. The new properties include:

Hyatt Place Vancouver / MetrotownBurnaby, British Columbia
Hyatt Regency Niagara Falls FallsviewNiagara Falls, Ontario

The lineup covers everything from a Niagara-on-the-Lake boutique property under Hyatt's Unbound Collection to a Fallsview-facing Regency in Niagara Falls, giving the company a presence in both leisure-heavy tourist corridors and a secondary market like Thunder Bay.

Park Hyatt Vancouver anchors a West Coast luxury push

Hyatt's pipeline also signals a push upmarket. A planned Park Hyatt Vancouver will give the brand its first West Coast Canadian address, pairing with the existing Park Hyatt Toronto to put Hyatt's top luxury brand in both of the country's major gateway cities. Hyatt said the two properties together will strengthen its luxury positioning nationally.

The company is also bringing its Unscripted by Hyatt collection brand to Canada for the first time, through a partnership with Haida Enterprise Corporation, the economic development arm of the Haida Nation. Hyatt described Unscripted as a way for independent hotels to join its global distribution and loyalty network while keeping their own identity and character intact.

Hyatt did not specify opening dates for the Park Hyatt Vancouver or the Unscripted property beyond describing them as upcoming additions to the pipeline. With 10 openings slated for 2027 across a roster of brands spanning select-service, extended-stay, luxury and independent-collection formats, the company's next concrete marker will be confirmation of specific 2027 opening dates as those projects near completion.
