Colaba is the safest first-trip pick in Mumbai — mumbai's victorian-era southern tip — the gateway of india, the taj mahal palace, and the causeway that every first-time visitor walks. Bandra West is the strong alternative if you want foodies and first-time visitors.

Very — it's one of Mumbai's most international-friendly neighbourhoods, well-lit, densely populated, and with strong police presence around the main eating/drinking zones. Standard urban pickpocket precautions apply on crowded Hill Road.

Colaba is the classical-Mumbai tourist base — Gateway of India, Taj Mahal Palace, Victorian colonial architecture. Bandra is the newer-cool version — restaurants, boutiques, contemporary art. Most visitors with 3+ nights split them.

The fan crowd outside Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat (a white bungalow on Bandstand) is a daily event; SRK sometimes appears briefly. Other stars live nearby and are occasionally spotted at Toto’s Garage pub or Olive Bar. Don't organise your day around it.
