Phuket suits a particular kind of traveler: one who wants a genuine beach holiday with infrastructure to match — reliable flights into HKT, a wide spread of resorts, and enough variety that a week doesn't feel repetitive. The island's west coast does most of the heavy lifting for hotel stays. Patong is the loud, convenient center; Kata and Karon trade some of that energy for calmer sands; Kamala and Surin push further north toward lower density and longer money. Families tend to anchor on the quieter southern and mid-coast bays, while couples chasing infinity pools and spa days gravitate toward the clifftop properties above Bang Tao or the Nai Harn headland in the south.
