Lima earns its reputation on the plate — this is the city that turned Peruvian cooking into a global conversation — but it rewards slower attention too. The clifftop districts of Miraflores and Barranco are where most travelers anchor themselves, and for good reason: ocean views, walkable restaurant strips, and a density of well-run hotels that punch above the city's price point. San Isidro, Lima's financial core, pulls business travelers who need proximity to corporate headquarters without sacrificing comfort. The colonial centro histórico is worth a half-day but rarely makes sense as a base — the logistics don't justify it.
