Hyatt said The Mindaro, operating under its JdV by Hyatt lifestyle brand, has opened near Portland International Airport, giving travelers a new boutique-style option close to the terminal. The hotel is the latest piece of what Hyatt and operator Vesta Hospitality are calling The Mindaro Campus, a cluster of lodging, dining and event venues built around the airport corridor.

The property has 90 guestrooms, each sized at roughly 500 square feet, according to Hyatt. The company describes the design as drawing on the Pacific Northwest's landscape and character, with guestroom touches that include fine linens, plush robes and locally sourced coffee and tea — specifically single-serve coffee from Caravan Coffee and teas from Smith Teamaker, both regional brands. Rooms come with complimentary Wi-Fi, and the hotel includes a 24-hour fitness center and room service.

A connected campus near the terminal

Rather than standing alone, The Mindaro is positioned as the boutique anchor of a larger hospitality cluster. Hyatt said the campus also includes Hyatt House Portland Airport, a longer-stay property; The Hollow Café + Bar; Jawfish Restaurant; and The Mindaro Event Center, a meetings and events venue. The pitch, according to Hyatt, is a single convenient location where travelers, locals and event planners can stay, eat, meet and host gatherings without leaving the campus.

Rick Takach, chairman and chief executive officer of Vesta Hospitality, which operates the property, framed the opening as the culmination of a longer plan for the site. "The Mindaro represents what we envisioned for this property from the beginning, a distinctive hotel that feels connected to Portland and gives people more reasons to stay, gather and experience the destination," Takach said. He added that combining Hyatt House, Jawfish and the event center with The Mindaro was meant to create one connected hospitality experience rather than a collection of separate businesses.

What's on site

For travelers comparing what each part of the campus offers, Hyatt laid out the components this way:

VenueFunction
The Mindaro90-room boutique lifestyle hotel
Hyatt House Portland AirportExtended-stay lodging
The Hollow Café + BarCasual dining and drinks
Jawfish RestaurantFull-service restaurant
The Mindaro Event CenterMeetings and events space

Hyatt positions the brand as distinct from its more corporate flags, built instead around independent-feeling design paired with hotel-chain amenities like loyalty program access and standardized service. For now, the campus gives PDX-bound travelers another lodging choice close to the airport, with the full slate of dining and event venues already open alongside the new hotel. Reservations for The Mindaro and the rest of the campus are being taken immediately.
