By destination.com editorial · Published July 30, 2026
Five days across Roma, Condesa, Coyoacán, and the historic center. Book Contramar for lunch on your first Saturday — it's the anchor.
Day 1
- Land + acclimate · Note
CDMX sits at 2,240m. Drink water. Save the mezcal for tomorrow.
- Panadería Rosetta
Roma Norte. Guava roll and a coffee. Sit outside.
- Parque México
Wander Condesa. Sunday morning if possible — the dog park at the north end is peak neighborhood.
Day 2
- Contramar
Book weeks ahead. Tuna tostada, pescado a la talla (half red / half green). Lunch, not dinner.
- Centro Histórico
Zócalo, Templo Mayor, Palacio Nacional (Diego Rivera murals — passport required for free entry).
- Balcón del Zócalo
Rooftop cocktails at sunset with the cathedral in front of you.
Day 3
- Coyoacán + Casa Azul
Buy the Frida Kahlo Museum ticket online, timed entry. Come mid-morning; the plaza afterward is the reward.
- Mercado de Coyoacán
Tostadas de Coyoacán stall — the ceviche, cangrejo, and pata are the classics.
- Museo Anahuacalli
The Diego Rivera one people miss. Bus or Uber from Coyoacán. Volcanic stone pyramid stuffed with pre-Columbian art.
Day 4
- Teotihuacán day trip · Transport
Uber or ADO bus from Autobuses del Norte. Get there at opening — the sun and the crowds both peak later.
- Pyramid of the Sun + Avenue of the Dead
Climb Pyramid of the Moon (better views, less crowd than the Sun). La Gruta for lunch on the way out.
Day 5
- Xochimilco
Trajinera boat ride — get a group together, bring beer. Weekdays are quieter but the atmosphere is better on weekends.
- Pujol
Farewell dinner. Book 2+ months ahead. The mole madre is the whole reason.
