Where is the street food in Santorini actually good?
Santorini is not a street food island — accept that upfront. The economy runs on sit-down restaurants catering to tourists willing to pay for a caldera view, so the grab-and-go culture you find in Athens or Thessaloniki simply does not exist here. That said, a few honest options exist. In Fira, the gyro spots along the main commercial drag toward the cable car serve decent, cheap pork or chicken gyros for around 3-4 euros — nothing transcendent, but they do the job. The central market in Fira also has vendors selling local loukoumades and tiropita in the mornings. Oia is almost entirely a trap for food — overpriced, tourist-optimized, skip it for anything casual. Your best value eating overall is in Pyrgos or Megalochori, where tavernas serve locals and keep prices grounded, though that is table service, not street food. If portable, cheap, and good is the priority, eat before you arrive or stock up at a local supermarket.
