How do I get from the airport to the city in Rome?

Rome has two airports, and the answer differs sharply between them. From Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci), the Leonardo Express train runs directly to Termini station every 30 minutes, takes 32 minutes, and costs €14. Alternatively, the slower FL1 regional train stops at Trastevere, Ostiense, and Tiburtina for about €8 — useful if you're not staying near Termini. Taxis from Fiumicino to anywhere within the Aurelian Walls are a flat rate of €50, set by city ordinance; confirm the rate before you get in. From Ciampino, there's no direct train; take a Terravision or SIT Bus shuttle to Termini (roughly €6, 40 minutes), or a taxi at the flat rate of €31 to the city center. Avoid unlicensed drivers at both airports who will quote you a "flat rate" that is anything but. Licensed cabs are white, metered or flat-rate by law, and the driver must display their rate card.
