How do I get from the airport to the city in Reykjavik?
The Flybus (operated by RE — Reykjavík Excursions) is the standard move: it departs from Keflavík Airport within 35 to 45 minutes of each international flight landing, costs around 3,999 ISK (roughly $29) to the BSÍ bus terminal in central Reykjavík, or about 4,999 ISK for a door-to-door transfer to most hotels and guesthouses. Journey time to BSÍ is 45 to 50 minutes; add another 20 to 30 minutes if you're continuing to a specific address. Buy tickets online in advance or at the desk immediately after customs — the buses fill up after busy transatlantic arrivals. Taxis and rideshares from Keflavík run 15,000 to 20,000 ISK and make sense only if you're splitting the cost four ways or have a lot of gear. Renting a car at the airport is worthwhile if you're heading straight to the Ring Road, but for the city alone it creates more parking headaches than it solves.
