How do I get from the airport to the city in Madrid?
Take the Metro Line 8 from either Terminal 2 or Terminal 4 directly to Nuevos Ministerios, Gregorio Marañón, or Alonso Martínez, then transfer to other lines as needed. The ride costs €5 flat (the airport supplement is built into that fare) and takes roughly 25 minutes to Nuevos Ministerios. Trains run from around 6:05 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. If you have a lot of luggage or are heading to a specific central neighborhood like Malasaña or Lavapiés, the Exprés Aeropuerto bus is a cleaner option: it runs 24 hours, costs €5, and stops at O'Donnell, Cibeles, and Atocha. Taxis are metered and the fare from T4 to the city center runs €30-35. Uber and Cabify operate legally here and typically come in slightly cheaper than taxis during off-peak hours. Avoid the private transfer touts inside the terminal; they charge double with no upside.
