The annual recognition program drew more than 490 submissions from around the world, with winners to be announced later this month across categories spanning innovation, creativity, and problem-solving.

Skift has unveiled finalists for its eighth-annual IDEA Awards, a recognition program honoring innovation and change-making across the travel sector. The 2026 competition attracted over 490 entries from organizations worldwide, according to an announcement released Thursday.
This year's program evaluated submissions across seven distinct criteria groups. Industry Innovators recognizes forward-thinking projects making consumer impact, while Change Makers highlights organizations using travel as a force for positive change. Creative Thinkers celebrates marketing, strategy, and technology efforts that inspire the sector, and Problem Solvers acknowledges service providers addressing business challenges through innovative solutions.
Additional categories include Travel Technology, which recognizes providers offering cutting-edge technological solutions; Short-Term Rentals, spotlighting individuals and organizations shaping that industry's future; and Meetings & Events, presented in partnership with Skift Meetings, which celebrates innovation among business events suppliers.
Among the finalists are Bangalore International Airport Limited for its payment-embedded loyalty program BLR Pulse, Lufthansa Innovation Hub for its Globility Transfer Hub addressing last-mile passenger needs, and Virgin Australia for conversational AI integration in flight search. Massachusetts Port Authority earned recognition for its remote terminal concept at Framingham, while Saudia was nominated for an Ihram-related innovation.
In the business travel space, finalists include American Express Global Business Travel's Hotel Lobby platform for corporate hotel sourcing, Fragomen's Nomadic tool for cross-border compliance, and HRS for its AI-powered corporate travel management assistant dubbed HRS Copilot.
An independent panel of industry experts will select winners from the finalist pool, with results scheduled for announcement on August 26. The volume of submissions reportedly underscores the IDEA Awards' continued relevance as an industry benchmark for measuring innovation, creativity, and impact across the global travel landscape.
