Grand Hyatt to Open All-Inclusive Cancun Beach Resort in December

Hyatt Hotels Corporation said Tuesday that Grand Hyatt Cancun Beach Resort is set to open in December, bringing the company's upscale Grand Hyatt flag to Cancun for the first time as a fully all-inclusive property. The 500-room beachfront hotel will sit inside Puerto Cancun, a gated marina community the company calls one of the destination's most closely watched new developments.

The announcement, made through Hyatt's newsroom, frames the resort as an extension of the company's push into the all-inclusive resort category, a segment where Hyatt has been expanding its footprint in Mexico and the Caribbean. Grand Hyatt Cancun Beach Resort will fold in what Hyatt describes as elevated culinary and wellness programming along with meeting space, applying what the company calls its "destination within a destination" approach — designing the property so guests can treat the resort itself, and its surrounding marina community, as a self-contained experience.

Puerto Cancun setting drives the pitch

Grupo Diestra owns the resort, while Hyatt will run it under the Grand Hyatt name. The location inside Puerto Cancun gives guests direct access to a marina, according to Hyatt, along with proximity to a golf course and shopping and dining options within the private community. The resort sits close enough to Cancun's Hotel Zone and other established attractions that Hyatt is positioning it as both a self-contained retreat and a base for exploring the wider destination — the company puts the drive to the Hotel Zone at about 25 minutes.

Omar Vázquez, general manager of Grand Hyatt Cancun Beach Resort, said the property will let guests experience Cancun through an all-inclusive model built around what he called "best-in-class accommodations and exceptional hospitality." In the company's announcement, Vázquez said guests would be able to immerse themselves in Puerto Cancun's marina, white-sand beach and location while getting the culinary, wellness and entertainment experiences Hyatt resorts typically offer. "Every detail will be thoughtfully curated through the Grand Hyatt lens and commitment to creating elevated stays that feel both effortless and unforgettable," Vázquez said.

Rooms, dining and amenities take shape

Materials released alongside the announcement point to amenities including a beach club pool, oceanfront king rooms and a restaurant and bar called Quattro, though Hyatt has not detailed a full rundown of dining outlets or room categories ahead of opening. The company has also not published pricing or specific booking-open dates for the resort.

For travelers eyeing Cancun for a December trip or beyond, the opening adds another all-inclusive option to a market already dense with resort brands along the Riviera Maya corridor. Hyatt's emphasis on the Puerto Cancun setting — a private development distinct from the traditional Hotel Zone strip — suggests the company is betting on guests wanting a quieter, marina-adjacent alternative while still keeping Cancun's beaches and nightlife within a short drive.
