Delta SkyMiles Reserve Card adds flight certificates to signup bonus
American Express and Delta are offering two round-trip Comfort+ vouchers plus 50,000 miles to new cardholders who spend $10,000 in six months, marking the first time flight certificates have appeared in a Reserve card welcome package.
Delta announced Wednesday a limited-time welcome offer for its SkyMiles Reserve American Express card that bundles flight certificates with bonus miles, a first for the product. From Aug. 27 through Nov. 4, eligible new cardholders can earn two round-trip Delta Comfort certificates and 50,000 bonus miles after spending $10,000 on the card within six months of opening.
The certificates carry no blackout dates and are valid for round-trip travel on Delta-operated flights within the lower 48 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, the carrier said. Bookings require 21 days' advance purchase, and taxes and fees up to $80 per person apply. The certificates can be used for either Comfort+ or Main Cabin seats to eligible destinations.
Delta is running concurrent promotions across its co-branded card portfolio through early November. The Reserve Business card is offering 200,000 bonus miles after $20,000 in spending within six months, which Delta described as its highest bonus-mile offer this year for that product. The Platinum consumer card features a tiered offer that could reach 90,000 miles plus a $300 statement credit after $4,000 in purchases, while its business counterpart offers 100,000 miles after $8,000 spent.
Gold cardholders can qualify for up to 80,000 miles and a $250 statement credit after meeting a $3,000 spending threshold in six months, according to the airline. The Gold Business card carries a 90,000-mile bonus after $6,000 in purchases. All offers require new card membership and are subject to approval and spending requirements within the first six months of account opening.
The promotion runs through Nov. 4.
