Delta Air Lines to Announce New Austin Route, Paris Service Expected
The Atlanta-based carrier is scheduled to unveil new service from its growing Texas hub on August 13, with a nonstop connection to the French capital anticipated for summer 2027.

Delta Air Lines will reveal details of a new route from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on August 13, according to aviation industry observers, with nonstop service to Paris Charles de Gaulle widely expected to be the announcement.
The timing of an August route reveal aligns with industry patterns for summer 2027 European service launches, according to reports. Delta has been developing plans for transatlantic expansion from Austin for several years, with the Paris route reportedly under consideration since mid-2024. An alternative Seoul service involving discussions with Korean Air and Samsung has also been mentioned as a possibility, though Paris appears more likely for the initial announcement.
The anticipated international growth forms part of Delta's broader Austin strategy, which the carrier described during an October earnings call as an investment to capture market share in what it termed a lucrative territory for expanding its co-branded credit card customer base. The airline has already overtaken American Airlines to become the second-largest carrier at the Texas capital airport, trailing only Southwest Airlines, and is slated to expand to 15 gates when a new concourse opens in the 2030s.
Infrastructure preparations include a new 30,000-square-foot Sky Club under construction, while the carrier's existing lounge near the international gates is being repurposed as a Delta One business class facility to support long-haul operations. Currently, Delta's joint venture partner KLM operates three-weekly Austin-Amsterdam service, joining British Airways flights to London and Lufthansa service to Frankfurt as the airport's existing European connections.
Austin had previously been scheduled to receive Paris service in summer 2020 via Norwegian Air, but those plans dissolved when the pandemic forced the carrier to permanently eliminate all long-haul operations. While Air France might have seemed a natural operator given its Paris hub, Delta's establishment of crew bases in Austin has made direct operation more operationally feasible for the SkyTeam carrier, according to industry analysis.
