Capital One Travel Expands Curated Hotel Collections to 1,400 Properties
The credit card issuer's Premier and Lifestyle Collections now offer eligible cardholders access to handpicked lodging options with enhanced benefits, reflecting a broader shift in how travelers value rewards programs.
Capital One Travel has grown its curated hotel offerings to more than 1,400 properties since introducing its Premier and Lifestyle Collections in 2023, according to a report. The collections provide eligible cardholders with access to vetted accommodations and perks including experience credits and room upgrades.
The Premier Collection emphasizes luxury properties featuring elevated service and bespoke amenities, while the Lifestyle Collection highlights design-forward accommodations with strong local character. Both collections represent an extension of the company's premium travel strategy, which began with the launch of its Venture X card and first airport lounge in late 2021.
The expansion comes as credit card rewards programs gain ground against traditional travel loyalty schemes. Recent research indicates that 34 percent of U.S. travelers surveyed view credit card programs as offering the most rewarding benefits, outpacing hotel programs at 22 percent and airline programs at 21 percent.
"Luxury has become an individualized definition, and our role is to curate experiences that help travelers discover what luxury means to them," said Phillip LaRue, head of luxury travel at Capital One, in published remarks. "By highlighting diverse properties, our curated portfolio delivers a powerful sense of discovery to cardholders."
The collections aim to help premium travelers navigate an increasingly complex lodging landscape through more deliberate curation and property selection. The strategy positions Capital One Travel as both a booking platform and a discovery tool, moving beyond points-based rewards to emphasize access and guidance in accommodation choices.
