Air France-KLM Flying Blue Offers 80% Bonus on Mile Purchases
The SkyTeam alliance carrier's loyalty program is running a limited-time promotion allowing members to buy miles at 1.69 cents each through mid-September.
Air France-KLM's Flying Blue frequent flyer program has launched a promotional offer running from August 27 through September 16, 2026, providing members with up to an 80 percent bonus on purchased miles. The incentive brings the effective cost per mile down to 1.69 cents when members buy at least 50,000 base miles in a single transaction.
Under standard pricing, Flying Blue miles can be acquired for 3.05 cents each before discounts or bonuses, with the per-mile rate decreasing for larger purchase volumes. A member taking full advantage of the current promotion by purchasing 100,000 base miles would receive 180,000 total miles after the bonus for $3,050. Access to specific bonus tiers appears to be account-dependent, with members needing to log into their Flying Blue accounts to view their individual offer.
The promotion arrives as Flying Blue prepares to implement award pricing changes on September 8, 2026, when the program will transition to a three-tiered redemption structure. Members purchasing miles during the current window can still redeem them under existing award charts before the new pricing takes effect, though the impact of the upcoming changes will vary by member.
Purchase limits remain in place for the program. Members without elite status can buy a maximum of 100,000 Flying Blue miles per calendar year before bonuses are applied, while elite-tier members face no such restrictions. The current 80 percent bonus represents a departure from historical offers when Flying Blue regularly provided 100 percent bonuses on purchased miles, enabling acquisition at 1.53 cents per mile. Such promotions have become less frequent in recent years, making the present offer among the stronger incentives the program has extended to members recently.
Flying Blue miles can be redeemed on Air France, KLM, and other SkyTeam alliance carriers, as well as select partner airlines outside the alliance framework. The program's award availability and routing rules make it a consideration for members seeking premium-cabin travel on transatlantic and other long-haul routes.
