Where do locals actually go for aperitivo in Munich?
Munich doesn't have a deep aperitivo culture the way Milan or even Hamburg does, so the honest answer is that "aperitivo hour" as a ritual isn't firmly embedded here. What locals do instead is drink at a Biergarten from around 5 p.m. onward -- Augustinerkeller on Arnulfstrasse and the Hirschgarten in Nymphenburg are both packed with after-work crowds, not tourists performing Bavaria. For something closer to a cocktail-bar aperitivo mood, the Glockenbachviertel neighborhood carries most of the relevant options: Zephyr Bar on Baaderstrasse has a serious bartending sensibility and draws a local crowd. The Feierwerk complex in Schwanthalerhöhe skews younger. Prices at a cocktail bar run roughly 12-16 euros a drink. If you want the Campari-and-snacks format specifically, Italian-leaning spots around the university quarter (Maxvorstadt) occasionally run early-evening offers, but it's not standardized the way it would be in northern Italy. Go to a Biergarten first; adjust from there.
