How do I get from the airport to the city in Budapest?
Take the 100E airport express bus directly to Deák Ferenc tér, the central transit hub in Pest. It runs every 20 minutes, costs 1,200 HUF (roughly €3), and takes about 35-40 minutes depending on traffic. Buy your ticket at the BKK vending machines inside the terminal before boarding — inspectors check regularly. The bus stops at Kálvin tér and Astoria along the route, both useful if your accommodation is in the 7th or 8th district. Taxis are legitimate but substantially more expensive; the official airport taxi operator is Főtaxi, and the fare to central Buda or Pest typically runs 8,000-12,000 HUF. Avoid unlicensed drivers who approach you in arrivals. There is no direct metro connection to the airport. The suburban HÉV rail is sometimes mentioned online but requires an inconvenient transfer and saves little time over the 100E, so skip it.
