Shilla Stay to Host World Youth Day Seoul 2027 Delegates
The Samsung-affiliated hotel brand has formalized an agreement to provide accommodations and dedicated services for international dignitaries attending the Catholic Church's global youth gathering in South Korea.
Shilla Stay has entered a formal partnership to supply lodging and hospitality services for World Youth Day Seoul 2027, marking the first time the Catholic Church's international youth gathering will return to Asia in over three decades.
The premium business hotel brand, operated by Hotel Shilla—a Samsung Group affiliate and one of South Korea's prominent luxury hospitality companies—finalized a memorandum of understanding with the event's local organizing committee on July 30 at Myeongdong Cathedral in Seoul. The agreement positions Shilla Stay properties to accommodate bishops and other international delegations traveling to the gathering.
World Youth Day represents a recurring international assembly of young Catholics led by the Pope, first convened in Rome in 1986 and subsequently rotating among major global cities every three to four years. The 2027 Seoul edition will be South Korea's inaugural hosting and only the second time the event has taken place in Asia, following Manila's 1995 gathering in the Philippines.
Beyond standard guest room provisions, Shilla Stay plans to establish specialized check-in protocols and information desks tailored to event attendees. The brand also intends to coordinate participant movement within its hotels to balance the needs of World Youth Day visitors against the experience of regular commercial guests.
The partnership showcases Shilla Stay's capacity to manage hospitality demands for a large-scale international event drawing attendees from numerous countries. The brand operates seventeen properties across South Korea and China under a "Smarter Stay" concept that emphasizes efficient operations, contemporary design, and service standards inherited from its parent company. This multi-property network allows Shilla Stay to deliver uniform guest experiences while adapting to event-specific requirements.
By standardizing operating procedures across participating locations, the hotel brand aims to provide reliable service throughout the duration of the Catholic youth gathering while accommodating the diverse backgrounds and expectations of international delegates.
