The agreement with Melbourne-based ALAND will add more than 1,500 rooms to IHG's Australian portfolio over the coming years. The brand currently operates more than 300 properties in markets including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and parts of Asia.

Extended-stay segment expands in Australian market
The signing follows sustained growth in demand for extended-stay accommodations across the Asia-Pacific region, driven by corporate relocations, project-based work, and travelers seeking flexibility between hotels and short-term rentals. IHG has prioritized expanding its extended-stay portfolio in recent quarters, with Staybridge Suites alongside brands such as Candlewood Suites and the Atwell Suites concept introduced in 2023.
ALAND, a property developer with a portfolio spanning residential, commercial, and hospitality assets in Australia, will lead development and own the properties under the franchise model. The company has previously partnered with international hotel groups to expand branded accommodation in secondary and tertiary Australian markets.
Rollout timeline and portfolio strategy
IHG did not specify opening dates or locations for individual hotels in the announcement, though the agreement calls for properties to be distributed across multiple Australian states. The company noted that the pipeline addition strengthens its position in the premium and upscale extended-stay segment, complementing IHG's existing Australian brands including InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, and voco.
The 15-hotel commitment represents one of the largest franchise deals announced in Australia's hospitality sector in 2024. ALAND has committed to developing the properties over a multi-year period, with construction timelines to be determined by site selection and permitting processes.
