HFTP Expands Membership Scope to Cruise Lines and Rail Operations
The hospitality finance and technology association has approved governance changes that broaden its reach beyond traditional lodging to encompass cruise vessels, passenger trains, and a wider array of industry professionals.
Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals has restructured its organizational bylaws to welcome a more diverse membership base, with changes taking effect in August 2026.
According to the organization, the association's Global Board has ratified amendments that explicitly extend membership eligibility to professionals working in cruise line operations and passenger rail services—segments previously outside the group's primary focus on hotel and lodging finance.
The bylaws revision also streamlines existing membership tiers into a simplified structure, addressing what the board characterized as outdated categorical divisions that no longer reflect how hospitality professionals organize their careers.
Alongside the membership expansion, the approved changes modernize governance terminology throughout HFTP's founding documents, bringing the language in line with contemporary association management practices.
The timing of the implementation—set for mid-2026—provides the association with an extended transition period to update systems and communicate the changes to current members and prospective applicants in the newly included sectors.
By formally recognizing cruise and rail hospitality as part of its professional community, HFTP positions itself to serve finance and technology specialists across a broader spectrum of guest-service industries that share operational characteristics with traditional hospitality venues.
