Hilton has opened its first Hawaii property under the Curio Collection banner, placing a 210-room resort on Kauaʻi's Nāwiliwili Bay within reach of Kalapakī Beach. The company said Hale Hōkūala Kauaʻi marks Curio Collection by Hilton's debut in the islands and extends the hotel giant's broader footprint across Hawaii, where Hilton has operated for more than six decades, according to the company.
The resort sits inside the Hōkūala Resort community and includes 23 suites among its 210 rooms, each with private lānais and views stretching toward the Pacific, Hāʻupu Mountain or the resort's Ocean Course golf layout. Hilton describes the name as meaning "House of the Rising Star," a reference built into the property's contemporary design and open-air layout.

Cultural program links guests to local practitioners
Central to the resort's pitch is a cultural immersion program called E Ala Ka Pilina, translated by Hilton as "The Awakening of Connection." The company said the program was built in partnership with local practitioners, educators, historians, artisans, nonprofits and community organizations on Kauaʻi, with the goal of connecting guests directly to island traditions rather than offering generic resort activities.
Dining is anchored by Figueira, which Hilton describes as Kauaʻi's only Portuguese-Hawaiian restaurant concept, reflecting a food history shaped by Portuguese plantation-era immigration to the islands. Beyond the restaurant, the resort offers guests preferred tee times at the adjacent Ocean Course at Hōkūala and more than 14,000 square feet of event space, positioning the property for both leisure travelers and group bookings such as weddings or corporate gatherings.
Hilton frames opening as part of island-wide expansion
Danny Hughes, Hilton's president for the Americas, framed the opening as a milestone tied to the company's long-running presence in Hawaii. "The opening of Hale Hōkūala Kauaʻi marks an exciting milestone as we introduce Curio Collection by Hilton to Hawaiʻi," Hughes said. "For more than six decades, Hilton has been proud to welcome guests to the islands, sharing the warmth and hospitality of our team members. Hale Hōkūala builds on that legacy with a resort that reflects the rich culture and spirit of Kauaʻi while offering travelers a truly unique way to experience the destination."
The property's location gives guests access to some of Kauaʻi's most visited areas without staying in the island's more congested resort corridors, according to Hilton. With the brand now represented in Hawaii, Curio Collection adds a property type distinct from Hilton's existing full-service and luxury hotels on the islands, leaning instead on independent-feeling design and localized programming that the Curio brand has used to differentiate itself in other U.S. destinations. Travelers interested in the cultural programming or event space can now book directly through Hale Hōkūala Kauaʻi's listing in Hilton's portfolio.
