Amex Blue Business Cards Offer Flat 2x Rewards With No Annual Fee
American Express's pair of no-fee business cards deliver identical 2x earning structures on the first $50,000 in annual spending, differing only in whether cardholders prefer Membership Rewards points or cash back.
American Express continues positioning its Blue Business card family as a competitive option for small businesses seeking straightforward rewards without annual costs, according to an industry analysis published this week.
Both the Blue Business Plus and Blue Business Cash cards share an identical earning framework: cardholders receive either two Membership Rewards points per dollar or two percent cash back on purchases up to $50,000 per calendar year, after which the rate drops to a single point or one percent. Neither card carries an annual fee, and both provide the same introductory offer structure—the Plus version awards 15,000 points while the Cash variant offers a $250 statement credit, each requiring $3,000 in spending within three months of account opening.

The cards include a 12-month introductory zero percent APR period on purchases, providing businesses runway to finance larger expenses before variable rates apply. American Express extends its expanded buying power feature to both products, allowing pre-approved spending above stated credit limits—a characteristic specific to the issuer's business card portfolio.
Additional shared benefits include access to Amex Offers, the issuer's targeted promotions platform spanning retailers, lodging chains, and airlines. Both cards assess 2.7 percent foreign transaction fees, making them unsuitable for international business spending compared to competitors waiving such charges.
Standard American Express approval policies apply: applicants can generally secure no more than two Amex cards within any 90-day window, and may hold a maximum of five credit cards from the issuer simultaneously, excluding charge cards. Businesses evaluating the two products face a straightforward decision between cash back and transferable points, with no functional difference in earning rates, spending caps, or ancillary perks distinguishing the pair.
