American Express Adds LHW Leaders Club As 20th Transfer Partner
Membership Rewards members can now convert points to Leading Hotels of the World's loyalty program at a 4:1 ratio, unlocking access to over 400 independent luxury properties worldwide.

American Express has expanded its Membership Rewards program by partnering with Leading Hotels of the World Leaders Club, marking the program's 20th travel transfer partner and fourth hotel loyalty program collaboration.
Members can now convert their Amex points to Leaders Club at a 4:1 transfer ratio, with a minimum transfer threshold of 1,000 Membership Rewards points yielding 250 Leaders Club points. The partnership positions American Express as the second major transferable points currency to align with Leaders Club, following Citi ThankYou, which offers a less favorable 5:1 conversion rate.
Leading Hotels of the World operates as a marketing collective representing more than 400 independent luxury properties spanning 80 countries. Unlike traditional hotel chains, LHW does not manage its member properties but instead serves as a marketing platform for high-end independent hotels and boutique groups, including brands such as Rocco Forte. The collection includes several prestigious establishments, among them the Ritz Paris and La Réserve Ramatuelle.
Industry observers note similarities between LHW and Small Luxury Hotels of the World, which maintains a partnership with Hilton Honors, though Leading Hotels of the World generally features more upscale properties. Award pricing operates on a dynamic model, with redemption values averaging approximately eight cents per Leaders Club point toward room rates based on available search data.
The partnership offers Membership Rewards cardholders a new avenue for redeeming points at independent luxury hotels that previously lacked efficient booking options through transferable points programs. When factoring in the 4:1 transfer ratio, members effectively receive roughly two cents in hotel value per Membership Rewards point transferred.
