What's the best neighborhood to stay in Copenhagen?
Stay in Vesterbro if you want a central base with good food, reasonable hotel prices, and walkable access to most of the city. The area around Kødbyen (the old meatpacking district) has a dense concentration of restaurants and bars, and Istedgade has filled in considerably over the past decade with coffee shops and independent retail. Central Station is at the neighborhood's edge, which makes airport runs and day trips to Malmö or Helsingør straightforward. Frederiksberg, just west, is quieter and slightly more residential, good if you're traveling with family. Nørreport is the geographic and transit hub of the city, and staying near there puts you within fifteen minutes on foot of Nørrebro, the Latin Quarter, and the harbor. The Inner City (Indre By) is convenient but hotels run expensive for what you get. Nørrebro itself is worth considering if you're there for the food scene and don't mind being one metro stop removed from the main sights.
